Nineteen academic subjects at CityUHK were ranked in the top 50 in the world, according to the ShanghaiRanking’s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects 2024. Notably, Library & Information Science was ranked 1st in the world, Public Administration was ranked 8th globally, and Energy Science & Engineering was ranked 9th in the world, reflecting CityUHK’s outstanding capabilities and further affirming its excellence. This underscores Hong Kong’s reputation as one of the best cities for studying abroad.
Three research projects by CityUHK outstanding scholars have been awarded funding under the 2024/25 NSFC and RGC Collaborative Research Scheme, amounting to over HK$8.8 million. The number of funded projects for this exercise at CityUHK was tied for the highest in Hong Kong. Additionally, five CityUHK scholars have been awarded funding from the 2024/25 NSFC/RGC Joint Research Scheme, with total funding exceeding HK$6 million.
CLASS hosted a signature event, titled “CityUHK as a Sino-Foreign Cultural Exchange Hub – from Sham Shui Po to the World”, to celebrate the 30th anniversary of CityUHK on 18 October. CityUHK holds the Arts Festival every year, bringing together a large group of CityUHK students and outstanding artists in various fields to present a series of spectacular concerts and musicals. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the CityUHK Arts Festival.
CityUHK garnered three prestigious awards at the inaugural QS Asia University Rankings award presentation ceremony, thanks to its outstanding teaching, research and diverse international academic environment. The accolades included the “Global Engagement Champions”, the “Learning Experience Champions” and the “Research and Discovery Champions” awards.
CityUHK has made significant strides in the latest QS Asia University Rankings 2025. Among 984 universities, CityUHK was ranked 10th in Asia, a leap of seven places from last year, and was ranked third in Hong Kong. CityUHK was among Asia’s Top 1% universities in the rankings, underscoring Hong Kong as one of the best cities for studying abroad.
CityUHK has built an extensive cooperative relationship with the University of Cambridge this year. Another two MoUs were signed on 1 November to solidify their commitment to cooperation in academic and research collaboration.
CityUHK held its “CityUHK Alumni Homecoming” on 2 November, attracting more than 3,000 participants to the campus to enjoy an array of activities to reconnect with fellow alumni, faculty members and other University community.
A delegation from CityUHK visited Nansha, Guangzhou on 4 November. The delegation met with local government officials and signed a cooperation agreement announcing the establishment of a joint research laboratory and an internship and entrepreneurship base in Nansha.
