Families and friends gathered at CityU on 27 March to share the joy of 13 graduates of the Doctor of Education (EdD) and Master of Education (MEd) programmes jointly offered by CityU’s School of Continuing and Professional Education (SCOPE) and the Graduate School of Education, University of Bristol.
CityU's School of Continuing and Professional Education (SCOPE) will launch certificate and diploma hospitality management programmes in March 2004 in partnership with the hotel management trainer Educational Institute of the American Hotel & Lodging Association (EI of AH&LA). These new initiatives target adults working in the industry and school leavers who aim to pursue a career in hotel management.

A group of 32 executives from the Bank of China recently took part in a training course co-organized by CityU's School of Continuing and Professional Education (SCOPE). The seven-day training course, held from 8-7 August, covered the rules involved in setting interest rates and risk management in the banking industry. This is the first time SCOPE has collaborated with the Bank of China to offer such a course.
It may come as a surprise to readers that CityU's College of Higher Vocational Studies caters to more than one third of the students enrolled at the University.

The opening of the Admiralty Learning Centre will enhance City University's position as a "staunch supporter and one of the key providers of life-long education" in Hong Kong, said Mrs Fanny Law, Secretary for Education and Manpower at the opening ceremony on 9 February. The University's School of Continuing and Professional Education has set up the new centre on HK Island to meet the ever-increasing demand for continuing education in the knowledge-based economy.
