City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) and the University of Exeter have built an extensive cooperative relationship last year. This partnership was solidified by the signing of two Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) last May and by the University of Exeter becoming an academic and research partner of the CityUHK Institute of Digital Medicine (IDM) last April, alongside other prestigious institutions.

On 9 December 2024, a CityUHK delegation led by Professor Kevin Downing, Secretary to Council, and comprising senior management, visited the University of Exeter. During this visit, they met with the senior management team to discuss the implementation of their research and education collaborations, as well as a wide range of other potential collaborative opportunities.

During the meeting, both universities exchanged views on enhancing communication and exploring collaboration across various topics, including the implementation details of the IDM partnership and interdisciplinary academic and research collaboration opportunities, aiming to enhance the joint positive impact globally and foster greater academic and research synergies between the two universities.
The continuous collaboration underscores the commitment of both CityUHK and the University of Exeter to advancing academic excellence and innovation through robust and dynamic partnerships.

The CityUHK delegation was warmly received by the senior management of the University of Exeter, including Professor Krasimira Tsaneva-Atanasova, Vice-President and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Impact); Professor Richard Follett, Vice-President and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Global Engagement); Professor Hwu Williams, Associate Pro-Vice Chancellor for Global Engagement (Faculty of Health and Life Sciences); Professor Li Li, Associate Pro-Vice Chancellor for Global Engagement (Faculty of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences); Professor Katie Lunnon, Director of Global Engagement, Department of Clinical & Biomedical Science; Professor Vike Plock, Head of Department of English and Creative Writing; Professor Aline Villavicencio, Director of Institute for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence; Mr Peter Clack, Director of Global Exeter; and Mr Liam Roberts, Global Partnerships Regional Head (China).
