City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) continued to demonstrate its commitment to the local community by participating in the Lam Tsuen Well-Wishing Night Market. From 7 to 13 February, CityUHK staff and students will actively participate in the event, which took place in the same locality as CityUHK Farm. They will share the locally produced dairy products of CityUHK Farm, demonstrating the University’s commitment to sustainable practices. The initiative not only underscores CityUHK’s dedication to community engagement, but also highlights the significant role of CityUHK Farm in the Lam Tsuen community.

Prior to the official opening ceremony of the Night Market, on 7 February, Mr John KC Lee, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and Miss Alice Mak Mei-kuen, the Secretary for Home and Youth Affairs, visited the Night Market and tasted the delicious CityUHK Milk and Ice Cream. They were warmly welcomed by Professor Freddy Boey, President of CityUHK, Professor Chan Chi-Hou, Vice President (Community Engagement), Professor Vanessa Barrs, Dean of the Jockey Club College of Veterinary Medicine and Life Science, and CityUHK students.

“CityUHK Farm, located just a five-minute walk from the well-wishing tree, is proud to present our CityUHK milk and ice cream. These delightful dairy products, sustainably produced, are a delicious by-product of our primary product, teaching. They are also a testament to our innovative practices at CityUHK Farm,” said President Boey, proudly sharing CityUHK dairy products with the Chief Executive. 
 
CityUHK’s participation in the Lam Tsuen Well-Wishing Night Market is part of a strategic initiative to foster deeper connections with the local community. By attending community activities, CityUHK aims to promote greater understanding and integration between the University and the community.
 
CityUHK’s booth at the night market will offer a limited number of free milk cartons and introduce the original flavours of its newly launched ice cream. Additional flavours are set to be launched after the Lunar New Year on the CityUHK campus. The milk and ice cream are tasty by-products of CityUHK Farm, an integral part of the University’s Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine programme, Hong Kong's first and only veterinary programme.
 
CityUHK was the first university in Hong Kong to introduce and practice the pioneering concept of One Health. The University will continue to engage with local communities through various activities and lead the way in veterinary education and life sciences research in Hong Kong, Asia, and the world. CityUHK’s focus on public health, food safety, animal welfare, and aquatic animal health contributes to the well-being of society.
