City University of Hong Kong (CityU) and CPA Australia have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for CPA Program exemption status for two courses offered by CityU’s Department of Information Systems in its Master’s programmes.

Under the MoU, CityU students and CPA Australia members who have completed CityU’s postgraduate courses "Blockchain Technology and Business Applications" and “Foundations of Information and Electronic Business Systems" will be considered to have met the requirements of the Digital Finance subject in CPA Australia's CPA Program and granted an exemption in this subject.

This is CPA Australia’s first collaboration with a university, where an exemption is granted in its CPA Program’s Digital Finance subject for students who have completed the relevant courses in their Master’s programmes. It is also the first time CPA Australia has recognised an information systems programme provider worldwide.

Professor Jeong Bon Kim, Acting Dean of the College of Business of CityU, said, “Given the rising importance of digital finance in business and innovation, CityU’s College of Business has been enhancing its curriculum to equip our students with cutting-edge knowledge in the digital economy. We are honoured to be the first university worldwide to receive an exemption for the CPA Program’s Digital Finance subject. This is recognition of the College’s efforts to nurture future leaders for the new digital era.”
