CityU graduates earn highest salary increment
?The professional education provided by City University of Hong Kong (CityU) is impacting graduates’ salaries.
Our former students earn the highest salary increment among all the eight institutions in Hong Kong, according to a survey released by the University Grants Committee (UGC).
“It is encouraging to see a strong performance demonstrated by CityU graduates. We have worked hard to consolidate the goals and aspirations enshrined in our Strategic Plan in areas of student learning and career development. We aim to prepare our students for the job market through our professional education,” said Professor Way Kuo, CityU President.
Ms Chung Annie, a 2015 marketing graduate working in the corporate finance department in a bank, said the communication and teamwork skills she had acquired at CityU were especially useful.
“These soft skills have proved to be very important in my work place because there are lots of opportunities to work with clients and colleagues from different departments,” she said.
Mr Anson Chan Tsz-chung, a 2015 translation and interpretation graduate, agreed, adding that he had learned how to collaborate effectively in a broad range of teamwork situations while at CityU.
“The overseas exchange programme helped develop my global vision and I learned to work with people from different countries. I am now working at one of the big four audit firms where I work with teammates from various countries and backgrounds,” he said.
The University has launched a number of new initiatives to strengthen the employability of CityU students in recent years.
For example, the Global Work Attachment Programme which offers overseas internship opportunities, academic exchange, service learning and multi-cultural projects.
In addition, the Golden Key Club is a unique opportunity for CityU scholarship recipients across various disciplines to bond and work together and further strengthen their competitiveness in career development.
