Three influential scientists from City University of Hong Kong (CityU) have been named among the world’s top researchers in 2015 by Thomson Reuters.

 

Those named are Professor Chen Guanrong, Chair Professor in the Department of Electronic Engineering, Professor Daniel Ho Wing-cheong and Professor Zhou Dingxuan, who are both Chair Professors in the Department of Mathematics.

 

Professor Zhou is cited in the broad field of Mathematics while Professor Ho in Engineering. Professor Chen is doubly successful. He is cited in both Mathematics and Engineering.

 

“It is great news that our faculty members are gaining international recognition for their work,” said Professor Way Kuo, President of CityU. “These scholars are setting the bar for excellence and acting as perfect role models for our younger faculty, who are also doing sterling work in their research projects.”

 

Winning the approval of one’s peers was a huge accolade for any academic, he added.

 

The three scientists have been selected based on the number of highly cited papers that they produced between 2003 and 2013. They have published the greatest number of articles ranking among the top 1% by citations received in their respective fields in each paper’s year of publication.
