Themed “Professional ? Creative ? For the World”, Information Day this year attracted more than 30,000 visitors to City University of Hong Kong (CityU) on 17 October.

 

Secondary school students and their parents joined various talks, information sessions and guided campus tours. They talked to CityU staff and students on campus to learn about university life and get the latest information on academic programmes and admission requirements.

 

Starting from the 2016-17 academic year, CityU’s College of Business and College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences will admit students by individual academic department instead of the current practice of admitting by college. Some colleges will also consolidate their major programmes or offer new programmes.

 

To help Joint University Programmes Admissions System (JUPAS) and non-JUPAS applicants understand the admission requirements and selection criteria, CityU organised nearly 90 talks and information sessions, including one on the Joint Bachelor’s Degree Programme between CityU and Columbia University. Many of the talks and information sessions received an overwhelming response, with the venues crammed with visitors.

 

As 17 October was also the last day for “Rebuilding the Tong-an Ships New Media Art Exhibition”, which integrates maritime history and new media, around 1,000 visitors took the opportunity to visit the exhibition which was jointly organised by CityU and the National Palace Museum in Taipei.

 

Another exhibition, held by the College of Science and Engineering, also attracted a large crowd of visitors. Three items were exhibited, one of which, nuclear reactor model “Hualong 1”, donated by Guangdong Nuclear Power Joint Venture Company, Ltd, was displayed in Hong Kong for the first time.
