As part of the Strategic Plan 2015-2020 and Academic Development Proposal 2016-19, the CUO is an institutional initiative with an aim to deepen discovery and innovation in professional education, and enlarge the capacity for knowledge transfer and entrepreneurship.

 

Professor Way Kuo, President of CityU, began the seminar by stressing the importance of sustainability in the modern world.

 

Dr Ning Zhi, Assistant Professor in the School of Energy and Environment, and Dr William Chung Siu-wai, Associate Professor of the Department of Management Sciences, then shared their outreach experiences.

 

Dr Ning discussed the role CityU plays in promoting the sustainable development of society by being the interface between scientific research and government policy, while Dr Chung shared his experience in outreach activities with NGOs in areas such as climate change and future energy demand, which eventually affects government policies on gas and electricity.

 

The talk was followed by a discussion panel and Q&A which was joined by Professor Linda Li Che-lan, Associate Provost (Strategic Planning), Mr David Ai Chuan, Director of Knowledge Transfer, Mr Raymond Fong, General Manager (Environmental Management) of the Hong Kong Productivity Council, and the speakers.

 

Professor Arthur Ellis, Provost of CityU, stated his expectation towards collaboration of academic units and concluded the seminar.
