Students win marketing award

Marketing and management students from City University of Hong Kong (CityU) have won the Gold Award in the Joint University Outstanding Marketing Award (JUOMA) competition for their excellent marketing strategies and outstanding presentation.
The winning team comprises five Year 3 students (top photo, from left from second to right): Peony Hung Tsz-ching, from Department of Marketing (MKT); Irene Chik Oi-yan, from Department of Management; and three other MKT students, Mandy Tong Kai-yi, Donald Mok Ka-ho, and Marilyn Au.
Competing with 400 teams from local universities, the team helped a company raise its brand awareness and loyalty with a strategically designed marketing plan. Their thorough analysis, originality and creativity, excellent organisation and presentation skills helped them to win the contest.
The project leader, Marilyn, said her team was so happy to have won the comprehensive competition. “We gained not only the prize but also the experience of turning ideas into solid and practical actions,” she said.
Initiated in 1995, JUOMA is the largest marketing case competition among higher education institutes in Hong Kong. It promotes creativity and develops analytical skills among university students, as well as provides students with the chance to gain experience in the marketing and advertising fields so as to utilise their skills equipped in their studies practically.
