Mr Andrew Kam Min-ho
, Managing Director of Hong Kong Disneyland Resort, delivered a speech on how he led his colleagues in dealing with the financial crisis and the swine influenza outbreak, as well as his experience turning Disneyland Resort into a profitable business in a short period of time. “A flash of inspiration accounts for one per cent of success while hard work with diligence makes up the remainder. Success entails constant pursuit of learning and a true zeal for one's work,” said Mr Kam. He encouraged the youngsters to meet challenges with optimism and keep calm in the face of difficulties.

Members of CityU in attendance included Mr Andrew Fan Ka-fai, Chairperson of the Community Relations Committee (CRC) under the Council, Mr Lau Ming-wai, Dr Law Hing-chung, Mr Clovis LAU Koong-yep and Mr MAK Hoi-wah, Members of the CRC, Professor Way Kuo, University President, Professor Arthur Ellis, Provost, Mr Sunny Lee Wai-kwong, Vice-President (Administration), Professor Horace Ip Ho-shing, Vice-President (Student Affairs), Professor Paul Lam Kwan-sing, Chief-of-staff, and Dr Raymond Chan Kwok-hong, Dean of Students.

In his speech, Professor Kuo said, “Through this programme, students will have the opportunity to talk in person to successful leaders from various sectors and learn from their experience and insights. Also, through briefings by representatives from our schools and colleges, they will learn about the professional programmes that we offer as well as career prospects and further study opportunities after graduation.

“They may also get a taste of university life first-hand by visiting our campus. I am sure they will find this programme informative and useful,” he added.

This is the fifth year that CityU has hosted the Shaping Your Future: A Lifetime of Difference programme. In addition to the talks and roundtable discussion, the students visited CityU’s teaching and research facilities, including the Japanese Tea Room, Gateway Education Laboratory and the Run Run Shaw Creative Media Centre. College and school representatives introduced their respective colleges, schools and departments, and talked about career and study prospects.
