Halloween at Ocean Park will be spookier than usual this year thanks to a stereoscopic projection system installed through a collaboration with City University of Hong Kong (CityU).

The joint project uses CAVE 0.5 to give people a sensationally eerie experience.

The CAVE 0.5 stereoscopic projection system gives people the chance to enjoy the ultimate in a seamless and stunning 3D experience on an entertainment level,” said Professor Jeffrey Shaw (middle, small photo), Dean of School of Creative Media at CityU and a pioneer in the creative use of digital media technologies.

The projection system uses two 3D projectors and two gigantic projection screens, one of which is lying on the floor projected onto from above, while the other is adjacent and standing vertically, projected onto from behind. Two active 3D projectors are used, and viewers standing on the screen floor view the stereo images through LCD shutter glasses.
