Consultancy services that students from the College of Business at City University of Hong Kong (CityU) provided for Chinese businesses have been praised for their professionalism.

Fifty-six final-year students from the China Business stream of the Department of Marketing formed seven teams to provide in-depth investigation, innovative professional ideas and feasibility measures for developing the branding strategy of Shenzhen Yitian Real Estate Group Co Ltd.

Three of the participating teams were honoured at an awards ceremony on 15 July. Ms Wu Dan, Vice President of Shenzhen Yitian Real Estate Group, said the students had kept pace with the market and their detailed reports reflected customer needs. The company was considering putting some of the proposals into practice, Ms Wu added.

In addition, 24 master’s students from the Department of Information Systems and six students from the University of Queensland formed six teams to undertake a one-week research project at the end of June aimed at optimising the strategic positioning and operational effectiveness of Shenzhen Nanshan Hi-tech Incubator.

The students carried out an in-depth study of the current developments of hi-tech enterprises in Shenzhen and at the Hong Kong Science and Technology Park. They also examined collaborations between tertiary institutions and enterprises in the two cities.

A representative of Shenzhen Nanshan Hi-tech Incubator praised the initial outcomes of the project, adding that the students’ recommendations provided firm direction for future developments.
