City University of Hong Kong (CityU) signed an agreement with the University of New South Wales (UNSW), Australia, on 22 October to bolster academic exchange and further develop the relationship between the two institutions. The partnership further underscores CityU’s status as a top global institution.

Under the latest agreement, the two institutions will work together on the exchange of academics, research personnel and administrative heads. Both parties will explore the possibility of teaching and scientific research collaboration and student exchange. The agreement takes immediate effect and is valid for five years.

Professor Fred Hilmer, Vice-Chancellor and President of UNSW, expressed his delight at maintaining the long standing relationship with CityU and said he hoped the two institutions would move forward with further collaborative ventures.

CityU President Professor Way Kuo said CityU was focused on developing academic links with prominent local and overseas institutions and hoped this collaboration would benefit the students and faculties of the two institutions.

UNSW has enjoyed close ties to CityU since 2004. An agreement was signed with CityU’s College of Science and Engineering on student, academic and research collaboration. In September 2009, the two institutions established a memorandum of understanding between the School of Creative Media of CityU and the College of Fine Arts of UNSW, to explore cooperative opportunities on joint course development and innovative technology and student exchange.
