The School of Continuing and Professional Education (SCOPE) held a party on 2 July to mark the return to the University of 82 colleagues who will focus on top-up degree programmes and adult education.

The welcoming reception was officiated by Professor Paul Lam Kwan-sing, Acting Vice-President (Undergraduate Education); Mr James Ng Kam-ming, Executive Director of City University Extension, and Dr Charles Wong Kit-hung, Director of SCOPE.

Professor Lam welcomed back to the University colleagues who had been deployed to work at the Community College. "This heralds a brand new start. Though we may encounter obstacles, we can work hand-in-hand and benefit from good communication. I am sure we can solve any problems that arise along the way and achieve our goals," said Professor Lam.

"SCOPE will focus on top-up degree programmes and we plan to open up the mainland market," Mr Ng added.

"This is a strong teaching team and will greatly improve the overall strength of the School," said Dr Wong.

Dr Aileen Lam Chan Lai-yam and Mr Chan Wai-to, Senior Lecturers of SCOPE, expressed their satisfaction at returning to work at the University.

"Although I am going to face many changes, I am optimistic as we share the same goal of making a contribution to the Hong Kong education system," said Dr Aileen Lam Chan Lai-yam.

Mr Chan believed that with their teaching experience and sharp marketing sense, the returning colleagues could adapt to new positions and assist with the development of SCOPE. "I will work with other colleagues in aspiring to produce students with good qualities and help the school to establish itself as a respected brand," Mr Chan added.

SCOPE has set up four sections as part of its development plan, namely Arts and Communication, Business and Management, Science and Technology, and Social and Human Sciences.
