Katherine, 26, a CityU graduate, now fighting against a deadly blood cancer, is waiting for a bone marrow transplant. , organized by the Student Development Services, is going to be held from 11am to 7pm on 22 and 23 January. University staff, students and alumni share one heart in promoting the meaningful event to help spread the message out. The campaign has aroused attention not just within the University community but the society at large. Earlier this month, the Hong Kong Marrow Match Foundation held a blood test campaign in Shatin. However, none of the 2,000 volunteers who came forward was found suitable.

Katherine is an optimistic girl with a positive attitude towards her life. After graduating from CityU's Division of Commerce in 1998, she worked for a reputable company. Despite her busy and demanding office work, she decided to further equip herself by pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in CityU. In

the midst of devoting all her best for a bright future -- to her dismay - she was diagnosed with blood cancer (acute myeloblastic leukemia or AML) last May.

Katherine gave up her career, suspended the degree programme which she has already studied for two years so as to contribute all her time to fight the disease. She has undergone four chemotherapy treatments during the past seven months, but unfortunately, her health condition is not yet under control.

Her doctor said that bone marrow transplant is the only way to save Katherine's life.
