The Department of Management attracted an all-star lineup from among Hong Kong's business elite to shares their insights and experience at the department's first Residential Workshop for Human Resources Management final-year students. 

The workshop, Human Resources Professionals for the Future, saw 30 final-year students chosen for their excellent scholastic achievements engage with speakers on topics to help develop their employability in the job market. The two-day intensive workshop, held on 22 and 23 February, included such topics as How to Build and Develop a Professional Career in HR, and The Changes of Human Resources Requirements and Challenges in Mainland China.

 

 

Students responded favourably to the workshop and said it provided them with a competitive edge in developing a successful career in Human Resources Management.

"The workshop was an exciting development because its represented a major step toward forging a closer link with practitioners in educating our students and providing them with state-of-the-art professional know-how," said Department of Management Head, Professor Leung Kwok, who opened the workshop.

 

 

The workshop was designed an coordinated by Dr Frankie Lam, Managing Director of Bole Associates Ltd, and Chairman of the Department of Management's Departmental Advisory Committee.

 

 

Honorary speakers included Ms Carrie Leung, Head of Service Quality Standard, Standard Chartered Bank, Mr Wilfred Wong, Vice President of Human Resources from Duty Free Shoppers, Ms Florence Ho, Director of Human Resources from Sun Hung Kai Securities Limited, Mr Sherman Chin, Associate Director of Human Capital HK / PRC, William M Mercer, Ms Carrie Chau, General Manager of Hong Kong Institute of Human Resources Management, Ms Shirley Cheng, Founder of Power Capsule and Ms Mimi Tong, Assistant Director of Human Resources (Asia Pacific) from The Royal Bank of Scotland.
