City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK), in collaboration with the Sham Shui Po District Office and the Hong Kong Centre of Cerebro-Cardiovascular Health Engineering (COCHE), is organizing a health screening programme to raise awareness of cerebro-cardiovascular health from April 2025 to February 2026. The 10-month programme will track the health data from the same group of 50 participants throughout the series. The first of the eight-part health screening series was launched on 26 April 2025 at Ying Wa College.

Professor Chi-hou Chan, Vice-President (Community Engagement), remarked that “The programme reflects CityUHK’s commitment to translating innovation into real impact for the community and offers our students a meaningful opportunity for community service.”

CityUHK student volunteers also took part in assisting with event operations, including helping participants to understand health questionnaires and guiding them through the screening procedures. Their support contributed to a smooth and welcoming experience for all.

Professor Kannie Chan from the Department of Biomedical Engineering at CityUHK and the Director of COCHE, welcomed participants and highlighted the importance of early detection and long-term monitoring in preventing cerebro-cardiovascular conditions. The event featured two health talks followed by screening tests. Professor Kannie Chan and Professor Henry Mak, MRI Medical Specialist of COCHE, shared insights on heart and brain health.

The next session in the screening series is scheduled for May 2025, continuing the joint effort to promote prevention-based health awareness through cross-sectoral collaboration.
