City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) participated in the Bazaar Only.Coffee Festival on 14 and 15 December 2024 at Maple Street Playground in Sham Shui Po. The two-day event attracted nearly a thousand visitors to the “CityUHK@Sham Shui Po” themed booths, creating an opportunity for the University to strengthen its connections with the local community while promoting its brand and innovations.

The CityUHK booths showcase innovations by two companies from the  HK Tech 300 initiative, namely Meat the Next Company Limited and Goolab Technology Company Limited. 

Meat the Next Company Limited focuses on developing delicious, nutritionally balanced, and affordable protein solutions. Their offerings include dairy-free ice cream, non-dairy beverages, and plant-based meat, appealing to health-conscious consumers.

Goolab Technology Company Limited, pioneering in upcycling discarded agricultural beehive waste, advocates a low-carbon green medical healthcare concept. Their product, "Freez Sugar?," is a natural sweetener with high nutritional value, targeting those with chronic diseases and health-conscious individuals. This innovation supports over 600 million diabetes patients globally.

CityUHK also offered a fun photo booth where visitors could receive a free photo by completing a quiz about the University. This interactive experience enhanced visitors' understanding of CityUHK and its contributions to the community.

In addition, a variety of books and souvenirs by CityUHK Press were available for purchase, further enriching the festival experience for attendees.

Overall, the successful event highlights the University's dedication to community engagement and innovation, showing how CityUHK continues to make a positive and lasting impact beyond the campus.
