The CityU roundtable held last 22 August 2023 titled “Conducting Research on Asia in Challenging Times.” For the description of the workshop on the website, kindly put the following: “This invitation-only roundtable addressed a set of what, where, how, with whom and why questions that have shaped the field’s evolution: How have recent socio-political changes in the region impacted the possibilities of fieldwork and data collection? What were the changing nature and extent of collaboration networks? Who are the producers and consumers of this body of knowledge? What have been key changes in trending and under-studied topics? From which geographic areas and through what methodological approaches have the knowledge of the region been primarily produced and widely consumed? How do we measure the research impact of the study of Northeast and Southeast Asia per se and across the various social science disciplines? The APSA Workshop held last 21 August 2023 titled “Theorizing the Dynamics of Collective Action.” For the description of the workshop on the website, kindly put the following: “This workshop brought together 18 Asia-based social scientists to (1) critically examine whether mainstream theories and concepts developed in a particular time and space apply to cases that we study and (2) explore ways in which we, as Asian scholars, studying East and Southeast Asian politics and society, can make novel contributions to theory development in collective action research.” The attached file titled “APSA Workshop_21 August” will also need to be uploaded.
