Radiation Control System
The RCS was officially launched on 1st July 2022, which serves as an electronic platform for the users to purchase radioactive substances and irradiating apparatus. You may find the system in the CityUHK service portal.
Eligibility of using RCS
Only the staff and research students who are approved by their Principal Investigator (PI) and recommended by the Departmental Radiation Protection Officer (DRPO) are eligible to apply for the purchasing delegate by filling the forms below:
- Nomination Form for radioactive substance purchasing delegate
- Undertaking Form for student nomination RCS Form 2
Please complete the form and return it to the Laboratory Safety Unit at MMW 1434 (Attn. to Mr Wheat MAK or Mr Kelvin WONG) to arrange the RCS training and the quiz.
Those who pass the quiz will successfully register as an RCS purchasing delegate.
Undergraduate students are NOT allowed to be the RCS purchasing delegate.
Coverage of the RCS
The RCS controls the purchase and storage of sealed and unsealed sources of a radioactive substance (e.g. Phosphorus-32, Sulphur-35, Iodine-131, etc.) and irradiating apparatus (e.g. X-ray, microCT, etc.).

New Radioactive Substance
All users must inform the Radiation Board (RB) of the Department of Health (DoH) to add new unsealed or sealed source radioactive substances to the licence before raising any purchase request. Once the updated licence is ready, please send a copy to LSU for adding the new item to the RCS.
