The University’s attention was drawn to a number of highly suspicious spoofing emails (“Emails”) sent recently from an email account “business@lisentrading.com” (“Sender”) with, inter alia, the following subject lines:

“關於香港協(xié)會第一屆全體大會籌備委員會” (23 April 2024)
“關于 籌備委員會主要成員的權益與職責” (6 May 2024) 
“關於WMFSRA香港協(xié)會第一屆全體大會的對接聯(lián)繫人” (15 May 2024)
“會員選舉大會方案及文檔” (16 May 2024)

The Emails were sent on behalf of an organisation purportedly named “WMFSRA香港協(xié)會”, also purportedly known as “世界現代化工廠制度（香港）研究協(xié)會” (“Association”), and contained attachments. The Emails falsely claimed that the President and Professor Way Kuo are members of the Association.

Both the Sender and the Association are not known to the University. The University confirms that the University, its President and Professor Way Kuo have no affiliation or involvement with the Sender and/or the Association and have not authorised any person or entity to use their names in the Emails. With respect to any purported invitation to the President and/or Professor Way Kuo to become a member of the Association, both the President and Professor Way Kuo have unequivocally declined such invitation.

The University community and the public at large are hereby warned against any dealings with the Sender and/or the Association.
