Dr Chan Chi-Hou, one of CityU's top scientists, has been elected a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) for his contributions to computational electromagnetics.

 

Chair Professor of Electronic Engineering and Associate Dean of the Faculty of Science and Engineering since 1998, Dr Chan was one of 259 IEEE senior members elected to the prestigious Fellowship. IEEE Fellowships are conferred by the IEEE Board of Directors upon a person with an extraordinary record of accomplishments in any IEEE field of interest.

 

In 1991, Dr Chan received the US National Science Foundation Presidential Young Investigator Award. He is a member of the US National Committee of the International Union of Radio Science, a member of the Electromagnetics Academy and a recipient of the Intel Visiting Faculty Award.

 

Dr Chan is also a consultant to a number of electronic and defense-based industries in the US and Hong Kong and is an Advisory Professor of the Nanjing University of Science and Technology. His research interests include computational electromagnetics, frequency selective surfaces, microwave integrated circuits, electronic packaging and wireless communications.

 

At CityU, Dr Chan is also a renowned teacher, having been the recipient of the Outstanding Teacher Award in the Bachelor of Engineering programme in 1998, 1999, and 2000.
