Celebrating the 30th anniversary of CityUHK, the College of Science (CSCI) proudly presented exciting programmes for science alumni and their family members in the Alumni Homecoming 2024 event organised by the Alumni Relations Office on 2 November 2024.
48 participants including Maths alumni and their family members joined the Alumni Reunion Lunch organised by the Department of Mathematics. The presence of faculty members, including Professor Ya Yan Lu, Head of the Department, added a touch of nostalgia to the gathering. Professor Xin Wang, Dean of CSCI, also engaged in pleasant conversations with the participants.
On the other hand, 52 participants had a hands-on experience tailoring their hand cream in the "Exploring Cosmetic Chemistry" workshop, organised by the Department of Chemistry. Under the guidance of Professor Alex Wong, Associate Dean (Outreach and Internationalisation) of CSCI and Professor from the Department of Chemistry, the participants blended the ingredients into a mixture and added the flavour they had chosen. Not only ladies, but gentlemen and kids enjoyed themselves.
Professor Condon Lau, Associate Professor from the Department of Physics, delivered two seminars, titled "Generative AI for Diagnostic Medicine" to 22 participants. He shared insight on how to fully harness the capability of AI, for example, by giving detailed instructions for the AI tools to follow. He then briefly introduced his team’s generative AI tools for the medical diagnosis of pet cancer, further expanding the participants' knowledge.
