In summer 2019, the College of Science (CSCI) jointly organized four Cultural and Language Immersion Scheme (CALIS) programmes with the College of Engineering. A total of 18 CSCI students took part in one of the progammes run by our UK partner universities including the Edinburgh Napier University, Middlesex University and Sheffield Hallam University.
During the 4-week study tours, students had the opportunity to improve their English proficiency through immersion in the British culture and classroom learning, which comprised a variety of activities such as homestay at a local family, industrial visits, community services, sports activities, weekend excursions and sightseeing.
The College received a lot of positive feedback from our students about the programmes. We are glad to know that all CALIS participants bring back good memories with them, along with the new knowledge, friendships and global outlook. The College will run the CALIS programmes again in summer 2020. Interested students are welcome to visit our website for more information nearer the time.
