Solar cells are highly appealing energy transformation techniques among both academic and industrial communities, because solar energy is the cleanest, most abundant renewable energy source on our earth planet. At present, most of the commercialised photovoltaics are based on crystalline silicon (Si) which possesses over 90% market shares in the photovoltaic field. However, the high cost and complicated fabrication processes of Si solar cells limit their universal application and large-scale manufacture. In this presentation, the speaker will talk about the emerging generation of photovoltaics.
