Head's Message

Welcome to the Department of Media and Communication (COM) at City University of Hong Kong (CityU)

Since its establishment in 2008, the Department of Media and Communication at City University of Hong Kong has grown to be a world-leading hub for professional communicators. We have an international team with professional expertise in journalism, new media and technology, media data analytics, computational social science, political communication and international communication. The faculty members publish in top-tier academic journals and play leading roles in academic activities worldwide.

As an education unit, we are dedicated to nurturing versatile professional communicators and academic researchers. Over the years, our graduates have demonstrated distinction through their roles as industry leaders in different sectors; our PhD graduates have staged as rising stars in teaching and research when they are serving in local, mainland China and overseas universities.

With the aim of pursuing excellence in teaching, research and community outreach, COM will strive to maintain the standard of research excellence and be dedicated to providing high-quality education in the years ahead.
