Outbound Exchange

Application Procedures

Students wishing to participate in the outbound exchange programme must comply with the following application procedures:

1. Identify an overseas university that fits your interest.
2. Login AIMS (under “Student Services”) during the application period and read the instructions carefully.
3. Fill in the application form (except for the “choices of institutions”). Remember to save the form for later submission in AIMS.
4. Consult your Departmental Exchange Coordinator about the suitability of the programmes and institutions you choose. You can indicate up to eight choices of partner institutions (at most 4 at Institutional level, 2 at College level and 2 at Departmental level) on the application form. Make your final decision on your choices of partner institutions and make sure you have prioritised your choices from 1 to 8 on the form.
5. Make sure you have also uploaded the following supporting documents in AIMS:
   • An applicant statement (in 300 words, explaining: (i) why you wish to participate in the student exchange programme, (ii) what makes you think that you are a suitable candidate; and (iii) what you expect to gain from the exchange programme).
   • A study plan indicating the courses you wish to take at the partner institution. You are required to discuss and confirm your study plan and credit transfer arrangements with your programme leader/major leader.
   • Your academic transcript and proof of language proficiency such as TOEFL or IELTS score, if any.
   • Other supporting documents to indicate your CityU achievements and participation in co-curricular or extra-curricular activities.
6. Submit your ONLINE application after inputting your final choices of partner institutions to AIMS by the deadline.

Application results will be announced via email to successful applicants.
