The team beat more than 130 teams in the competition, which was jointly organised by the Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Fund and Youth.gov.hk.

The winning proposal, ElderTreks, aims to recruit retirees with good communication skills and familiarity with their local community.

The proposal provides opportunities for this demographic to contribute to society and offers a modest income.

The winning team comprises Valent Cheung Chiu-ying and Leon Lee Ho-wai, both Year 3 students in Global Business Systems Management; Michelle Kwok Yi-ling, a Year 4 student in Marketing, and Francis Sze Cheuk-fai, a Year 3 student in Computer Science.

The team also won the Most Social Innovative Award, the Social Inclusion Idea Distinction Award and the Most Liked Award (live voting). One of the team members, Michelle Kwok, received the Most Valuable Presenter Award.

They were also given a start-up fund worth HK$150,000 to execute the proposal, which the team hopes to launch this year.???
