City University welcomed more than 12,000 prospective students who came on 5 October to take a look around campus and get more information on the University's bachelor's degree and associate degree programmes.

The information day saw the podium filled with potential students who sought advice from faculty, admission tutors and current students. Besides information booths, the University also organized various seminars, such as "El Nino and Life", "The Power of Language", and "The Road to Success", to help prospective students to better understand their academic interests. Visitors also had the opportunity to tour the University's state-of-the-art laboratories, such as the Service Robotics Research Laboratory and the Interactive Media & Virtual Reality Laboratory. Other activities included mock lectures, sharing sessions and guided tours to the Library and Sports Complex.

"Young people are eager to have direct contact with our academic staff and students so that they can know more about the environment and culture of the University," said Mrs Emily Cheng, Senior Assistant Registrar. "The visitors find our activities very informative and we are delighted to open our doors to as many prospective students as possible."

Secondary school students applying for university programmes via the Joint University Programmes Admission System (JUPAS) must submit their applications by 2 December 2002, whereas direct applicants should submit their forms
