FLASH Diagnostics Limited is a biotechnology company that develops molecular diagnostics solutions for the veterinary industry, focusing on nucleic acid testing (NAAT) for point-of-care (POC) and point-of-need (PON) deployment. FLASH Diagnostics, a spin-off from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, was founded by Dr Lu Xiao and Dr Alan Fernando Rodriguez Serrano in June 2022.
Our passionate and talented team created the ‘FLASH Test’, a palm-sized disposable test that combines the power of nucleic acid testing with the convenience of the widely used rapid test format, enabled by the integration of proprietary technologies for sample-to-result, user-friendly operation. Our first product is FLASH Pets, a customised test that allows veterinarians to detect pathogens in pets with PCR-quality results in less than 30 minutes from the comfort of their office, instead of waiting for days using traditional testing. Unlike other available NAATs, FLASH Pets can detect nucleic acids from pathogens in complex samples, like blood, faeces and body fluids, in addition to the commonly used saliva sample.
At the initial stage, FLASH Diagnostics will serve private veterinary practices with limited or non-existing offers of molecular diagnostic services in Hong Kong and Mainland China.
