This advancement is part of the legal field’s growing incorporation of blockchain technology and smart contracts, a phenomenon Chaisse labels as "ODR+." This expanded ODR framework leverages emerging technologies like blockchain, artificial intelligence, and machine learning to facilitate dispute resolution, enhancing efficiency, transparency, and security. Chaisse points out that smart contracts can automatically enforce contractual obligations under certain conditions, thereby promoting transaction predictability and trust. Similarly, smart courts utilize AI technologies to assist judges in making more informed, accurate, and timely decisions in legal proceedings.
