Origami and Mathematics - Seminar at Hong Kong Science Museum

Invited by the Hong Kong Science Museum, Prof Jon LO gave a talk on 'Origami and Mathematics', as part of the seminar series of ‘Science in Public Service’.

The seminar introduced the application of Mathematics in paper folding.

One well-known technique is called 'Miura fold', which was invented by Japanese astrophysicist Koryo Miura, for assembly of solar panel on satellite.

Prof Lo and his daughter are demonstrating the Miura Folding. When the structure is opened, it appears to be divided evenly into a checkerboard of parallelograms.
