Tiffany completed her Ph.D. at the University of Edinburgh, specializing in corpus-assisted critical discourse analysis, Chinese Transitivity Analysis, and social media discourses. Before joining the Language Centre at City University of Hong Kong (CityU), she taught at the University of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Metropolitan University. Her teaching spans translation, semantics, sociolinguistics, film studies, business English, English for Academic Purposes (EAP), and English for Specific Purposes (ESP), as well as teacher-training courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. As the Course Lead for GE 2412 English for Humanities and Social Sciences, she develops instructional materials, manages course administration, and mentors teaching staff.

Additionally, Tiffany received a Teaching Development Grant (HK$239,877) in 2018, which was used to support her project entitled “Maximizing students’ discovery in research presentation: The development of a student research showcase and an e-learning website”. As the Principal Investigator of the project, Tiffany managed the organization of the Student Research Showcase, and designed an e-learning website (http://www.22kk77.xyz/lc/app/) which aims to guide undergraduate students to analyze the semiotic and linguistic features of academic posters, and raise their awareness of poster presentation as a spoken academic genre.

Tiffany received the Innovative CityU-Learning Award (2020/2021) in recognition of her pedagogical innovation, which included incorporating virtual reality in narrative writing classes. This innovative approach attracted media attention, with her work featured in the South China Morning Post (https://www.scmp.com/presented/news/hong-kong/education/topics/digital-revolution/article/3146204/vr-experience-helps) in 2021. Her teaching achievements were also acknowledged through the nomination for the Teaching Excellence Award (2019/2020). Following the nomination, she was invited to serve on the Selection Panel for the Teaching Excellence Award at CityU in 2024/2025. She has also been serving on the Judging Panel for the Reimagine Education Awards since 2022, coordinated by the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and Quacquarelli Symonds (QS).

Beyond her teaching and judging roles, Tiffany contributes to academic publishing as the reviewer for multiple journals (e.g. SAGE Open), and has served as the abstract reviewer for various conferences. She served on the Coordinating Committee of the Hong Kong Continuing Professional Development Hub and maintains active involvement in professional communities exploring special education needs and virtual teaching strategies. Her connections extend internationally through membership in the University of Edinburgh’s Higher Education Research Group. Starting in September 2025, she will join the Board of the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences at CityU.
