On 26 November 2015, City University of Hong Kong signed agreements with the National Judges College under the Supreme People’s Court of the People’s Republic of China, which aimed at continuing the Chinese judges programmes at CityU’s School of Law which include the Doctor of Judicial Science (JSD) Programme for Senior Chinese Judges, the Master of Laws Programme for Chinese Judges, and Advanced Programme for Senior Chinese Judges. CityU’s School of Law has run the three Chinese judges programmes successfully for years: these tailor-made programmes are timely responses to the globalization taking place in the legal profession, which not only equip the Chinese judges with cutting-edge knowledge and diverse perspectives and skills, but also increase mutual understanding between the different legal systems.

Professor Way KUO, President and University Distinguished Professor, and Professor LIN Feng, Associate Dean of the School of Law, signed the agreements for the three programmes respectively with Justice HE Rong, Vice President of the Supreme People’s Court of the PRC, and Professor HUANG Yongwei, President of National Judges College of the PRC.

Other important guests attending the ceremony included Professor Linda Che-lan LI, Associate Provost (Strategic Planning), Professor Geraint HOWELLS, Dean and Chair Professor of Commercial Law of the School of Law, and Dr CHEN Lei, Associate Dean of the School of Law.
