The Departments of Biomedical Sciences (BMS) and Biomedical Engineering (BME) joined forces on 23 September 2023, to co-organise a highly anticipated joint symposium on Innovation in Biomedicine and Bioengineering at Benjamin Kwok Lecture Theatre located in Yeung Kin Man Academic Building. The event witnessed active participation from staff and students, creating an environment conducive to collaboration and knowledge exchange.

The symposium commenced with opening remarks by Prof. LI Wen Jung, Vice President (Talent and International Strategy), setting the tone for the day’s proceedings. Prof. LI emphasised the importance of interdisciplinary research in driving advancements in biomedicine and bioengineering, and expressed his optimism that the symposium would foster fruitful collaborations.

A total of 16 faculty members from both departments delivered insightful talks, covering a diverse array of topics at the forefront of their respective fields. The talks encompassed groundbreaking research, novel methodologies, and emerging trends in biomedicine and bioengineering. The faculty speakers showcased their expertise, presenting their findings and sharing valuable insights. Topics ranged from cutting-edge advancements in medical imaging and regenerative medicine to the development of biomaterials and bioinformatics tools. Each talk offered a unique perspective, highlighting the interdisciplinary nature of the symposium and encouraging cross-pollination of ideas.
