Overview

The Phase 5 of the Student Residence at Whitehead, Ma On Shan is an important milestone for CityU, signifying our growth, aspirations and determination to unleash our students’ potentials and nurture their talents. It is currently the world’s largest student hostel project to have adopted MiC (modular integrated construction) technology, calculated by the number of bed spaces. Construction works officially commenced on 14 March 2022 and the project is expected to be completed in mid-2024, two years ahead of the schedule thanks to the MiC technology.

Covering the area of 24,550 square meter (approx.), the brand-new residential compound consists of 6 halls in 3 towers for around 2,100 residents. Salient features include:
- a full-fledged indoor sports hall for basketball, volleyball, badminton and table tennis
- a well-equipped gymnasium
- a spacious multi-function hall for 280 persons
- a canteen
- ample public space, landscaped podium and semi-outdoor green decks

The Student Residence at Choi Sha Street eases the prolonged substantial shortage of hostel bed places for students. More importantly, it is a home for students to pursue personal development through a robust hall life and cultural integration.
