CSCI Faculty Members Comprise One-fourth of CityUHK NSFC Funding Awardees
Eight outstanding scientists from the College of Science (CSCI), City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) have been awarded funding from the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) for 2024, comprising one-fourth of all CityUHK’s NSFC funding awardees.

Eight outstanding scientists from the College of Science (CSCI), City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) have been awarded funding from the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) for 2024, comprising one-fourth of all CityUHK’s NSFC funding awardees. Another highlight is that Professor Zhedong Zhang from the Department of Physics, has received two funding for different projects.

The total amount of funding reaches RMB 6.75 million, which serves as a recognition of the distinguished research capabilities of our faculty members in their respective fields. Congratulations!

The “Excellent Young Scientists Fund”, open to researchers from Hong Kong and Macao since 2019, supports young scholars who have achieved notable results in basic research. Each awardee will receive a funding amount of RMB 2 million.

The “Young Scientists Fund” started accepting applications from Hong Kong scholars in 2022 and nurtures young scholars’ ability to undertake innovative projects independently. Each awardee will receive a funding amount of RMB 300,000.

“General Programme” supports scientists engaged in basic research on self-selected topics within the funding scope of NSFC to conduct innovative research and promote a balanced, coordinated and sustained development of all disciplines.
